Here in Nardò it seems almost as if the lockdown never happened – yes, restaurant tables are more widely spaced and at least some people wear masks in shops, but summer is in full swing and there are visitors everywhere. Certainly the Covid statistics in Puglia remain good, usually no new cases a day, 3 at the most.
I have done one property search trip, where we saw some very interesting properties which I will write about later this week, but have mainly been kept extremely busy lining up properties for people coming to view in August and September and renting out houses for clients who were unable to travel themselves. You may be more likely to snap up a bargain in the winter months but, with the arrival of spring, now is a more appealing time for a visit to Puglia and still a good time to look. I have been trawling through estate agents, looking for interesting properties ready for my property finding trips later this month and during March. In early October we took a stand at the A Place in the Sun show in Birmingham – the first time I had ever actively promoted our property search/project management service. Up until now most clients have either come via word of mouth, or because they were existing holiday clients. It was slightly daunting jumping in at the deep end but the fair turned out to be busy, informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
It was encouraging to see so much interest in Puglia, and there were definite trends: by far the majority of visitors had a modest budget (under 150,000€) and people mostly wanted properties that were either in a small town, with an outdoors space, or on the outskirts of a town or village.
